Okay folks, I know you cannot get much simpler than a roll filled with beans and cheese and salsa, but this dish is proof that food doesn't have to be over-processed, over thought or over-indulgent to be perfect. Food, in it's simplest, freshest form is the best!
This Muletta is one of the best things I had in a long time. Dona Rosa is also a Mexican bakery, so the bread is as fresh as it can be and you can taste it. I focus on the freshness of the ingredients here because there is such a difference in the food here than if someone served beans out of a can and salsa out of the jar. There is a freshness that elevates everything on the plate.
Served with the Muletta is a generous serving of tortilla chips, also made with their homemade tortillas, and a salsa bar offering very spicy/hot red salsa to a mildly spicy fresh tomatillo green salsa. In addition, they make marinated onions, chiles, etc.
The portion is very large, as it is on a whole bolillo, so you can share if you'd like but this is so good that you will risk the bloated feeling :)
